Day 1

ARRIVAL IN PHNOM PENH

  1. Welcome to Cambodia. On arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, our Serene World representative will greet you and transfer you to the hotel.
  2. Begin your journey by exploring Cambodia’s poignant past with a guided visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum  – once a high school, later turned into a Khmer Rouge prison and torture center. Then proceed to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, where a memorial stupa filled with over 8,000 human skulls stands as a stark reminder of history.
  3. In the afternoon, you may explore Phnom Penh’s brighter side. Visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, or discover the National Museum with its exquisite Khmer collection. Wat Phnom, a hilltop temple steeped in legend, is also worth a visit.
  4. For a relaxed evening, hop on a traditional cyclo ride through the city – covering landmarks like Central Market, US Embassy, Mekong Riverfront, Independence Monument, and the Royal Palace.

Day 2

PHNOM PENH – BATTAMBANG

  1. Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, drive by private minibus to Battambang, with a stop at Kampong Chhnang Pottery Village, where you’ll see skilled artisans practicing traditional pottery-making methods.
  2. Arrive in Battambang – Cambodia’s second-largest city, known for its riverside charm, French colonial architecture, and warm Khmer hospitality. In the evening, visit Phnom Sampov, where at dusk, thousands of bats stream out of the caves in a dramatic display.
  3. Optional activity Experience the famous Bamboo Train ride, a fun and unique way to travel along old rail tracks.

Day 3

BATTAMBANG – SIEM REAP

  1. After breakfast, embark on a tuk-tuk countryside tour around Battambang. Explore rural villages, meet local families, and learn about traditional food-making like rice paper, dried bananas, and bamboo sticky rice. Pause at a Khmer house to enjoy fresh coconut water while chatting with the locals.
  2. This experience also supports a local social enterprise that helps train Cambodian youth for future careers.
  3. In the afternoon, transfer by private minibus to Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor. Upon arrival, explore the lively night markets or enjoy some street food before preparing for your Angkor adventure.

Day 4

ANGKOR WAT SUNRISE TOUR

  1. Wake up before dawn for a magical sunrise at Angkor Wat. Enter the temple from its quieter eastern side with a torch in hand, and walk along corridors adorned with the world’s longest bas-relief carvings. After sunrise, enjoy breakfast outside the temple.
  2. Continue your Angkor exploration with a visit to Ta Prohm, the iconic jungle temple wrapped in giant tree roots, then to Ta Nei, a quiet 12th-century temple hidden in the forest.
  3. Next, explore Angkor Thom, starting from the majestic South Gate lined with statues of gods and demons. Visit the magnificent Bayon Temple, with its 200 serene stone faces, and see the Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King.
  4. Optional evening activity: Attend Phare, The Cambodian Circus or enjoy a traditional Apsara Dance Dinner Show.

Day 5

TONLE SAP LAKE – DEPARTURE

  1. Breakfast at hotel. This morning, drive through the countryside to the famous Tonle Sap Lake, one of the world’s largest freshwater lakes and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Depending on the season, board a private boat to explore either Chong Kneas or Kampong Phluk floating villages, where houses rise on stilts and locals live in harmony with the rhythm of the lake.
  2. Discover the unique ecosystem, spot water birds, and witness the simple yet fascinating lifestyle of the floating communities.
  3. After the tour, transfer back to Siem Reap.
  4. Your Cambodian journey ends here.
